Jose Alexander Cora is a Puerto Rican coach and former midfielder who coached the Boston Red Sox in the Major League Baseball. Previously he played at MLB for 14 seasons with Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, New York Mets, Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals. After retiring as a player, Cora coached the Houston Astros when they won their first World Series title in 2017. Cora was named the Boston manager the next season where he won the franchise's 108 best games and led the team to victory in the 2018 World Series. He is the MLB manager. fifth won the World Series championship in his first season and was the first Puerto Rican to manage a World Series winning team. After the 2019 season, Cora got involved in a sign theft scandal while playing for Astros. Amidst the investigation of whether he was involved in a different signature theft scandal than the Red Sox, Cora and Red Sox agreed to go their separate ways before the 2020 season
From 1998 through 2004, he was a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers' infield, where he played second base and shortstop. After retiring, he played for numerous different teams and then became a manager. In 2018, he was named manager of the Boston Red Sox, and in his first season, he led the team to a World Series championship.
