Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo is a scientist, politician and head of the Mexican government in Mexico City. She was jointly awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize as a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. She was elected mayor of Mexico City on 1 July 2018 as part of the Juntos Haremos Historia coalition. She was the first woman and the first Jew to be elected mayor of Mexico City. Sheinbaum holds a PhD. in the field of energy engineering, and author of more than 100 articles and two books on the topics of energy, environment and sustainable development. She was Minister of the Environment of Mexico City from 2000 to 2006 under the tenure of Mayor Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and she was Mayor of Tlalpan from 2015 to 2017. In 2018, she was included in the list.100 BBC Women.
