Throughout his life, Hurt fearlessly embarked on ventures that most individuals half his age would never dare to undertake. In his unwavering spirit, he declared his intention to combat this cancer with the same tenacity he exhibited in all his endeavors, vowing to continue embracing new adventures.

Hailing from North Dakota, Fred initially collaborated with the Hoffman Group, under the leadership of Gold Rush star Todd Hoffman, during their inaugural season at Porcupine Creek.
While not originally part of the group, he was sent to the location by the claim owner, Earle Foster. To everyone’s surprise, Fred eventually ousted Hoffman and assumed ownership of the claim, joining forces with Paul Behn and his own son, Dustin Hurt.
In subsequent seasons, Fred formed the Dakota Boys, and in Season 4, he expanded his endeavors by acquiring the Cahoon Creek Claim.
However, prior to Season 5, he made the decision to withdraw his entire team from Gold Rush and embark on a new venture, launching his own show titled All That Glitters.
In 2018, Fred made a triumphant return to the Gold Rush franchise with the captivating spinoff series, Gold Rush: White Water.
