He is the author of several books, including Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy, which has sold over five million copies worldwide. He is also the co-founder of the Feeling Good Institute in Mountain View, California. Burns was born in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in the suburbs of Dallas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1980. He then went on to earn a master's degree in psychology from the University of Colorado in 1982. He completed his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985. Burns has been a professor of psychiatry at Stanford University since 1995. He has also served as a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of Washington. Burns has written several books, including Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy, which has sold over five million copies worldwide.
