Ferlin Eugene Husky is an early American country music singer who is also proficient in traditional honky-tonk, ballad, recitation and rockabilly pop melodies. He had two dozen songs to top the Billboard country charts from 1953 to 1975; His versatility and idol-like looks fueled an entertainment career spanning seven decades. During the 1950s and 1960s, Husky hits, including "Gone" and "Wings of a Dove", both peaked at number one on the national charts. He also created a hayseed comic character, Simon Crum; and recorded under the stage name Terry Preston from 1948 to 1953. In 2010, the Husky was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
