Like American Express, Discover may or may not send an inquiry before filing a chargeback. Merchants have 20 days to respond to an inquiry. When a chargeback occurs, merchants have 30 days to initiate a representment request. Once a chargeback has been decided, either party has 10 days to file for arbitration.
