In a 1939 description it gave his height as 6ft 1 and weight as 170 pounds. In 1998, when talking about being a starving actor in Greenwich Village, he mentioned "I weighed 10 pounds and I was 6 feet, 1 inch tall, so I was the skinniest actor of the bunch"
