She is the daughter of Diane and John Mello. Her father was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, to an Azorean Portuguese father and a French mother. Her mother is of Mexican descent. Tamara is married to actor Paolo Cascardo, with whom she has a daughter.

Tamara’s paternal grandfather was surnamed Mello.

Tamara’s paternal grandmother was surnamed Dupuis.

Tamara’s maternal grandfather was Alfonso Delgado Ramos (the son of Daniel Delgado and Angela Ramos). Alfonso was born in Mexico.
