Tom Seaver was an American professional baseball player. He was a pitcher, who played 20 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), for the New York Mets, the Cincinnati Reds, the Chicago White Sox, and the Boston Red Sox. He was nicknamed “Tom Terrific” and “The Franchise.”
Tom was the son of Betty Lee (Cline) and Charles Henry Seaver. He was married to Nancy Lynn McIntyre, until his death, with whom he had two children. He had a 3.5-acre (14,000 m2) vineyard, Seaver Family Vineyards, on his estate.
Tom’s paternal grandfather was Everett Herbert Seaver (the son of James Everett Seaver and Bella Ralston Carr). Tom’s grandfather Everett was born in Kansas. James was the son of James Everett Seaver and Nancy Keith Follett. Bella was the daughter of David Carr, who was born in Scotland, and of Cynthia Ann Jewett.
Tom’s paternal grandmother was Gertrude Lillian Sharp/Thurber (who likely was the daughter of Horace Chamberlain Thurber and Katherine J. Showers). Gertrude was born in Michigan or Missouri.
Tom’s maternal grandfather was George Thomas Cline (the son of William Henry Cline and Georgia Robinson). Tom’s grandfather George was born in California.
