What happens if you dont pay your credit card?

If you don’t pay your credit card bill, expect to pay late fees, receive increased interest rates and incur damages to your credit score. If you continue to miss payments, your card can be frozen, your debt could be sold to a collection agency and the collector of your debt could sue you and have your wages garnished.

Does credit card debt affect immigration?

In the past, debt and bankruptcy wouldn’t impact your ability to become a permanent resident or citizen. Immigrants applying for a visa, green card, or citizenship should aim for a credit score “near or slightly above” the national average, according to the new rule. The average credit score is 706, according to FICO.

Can you immigrate if you have debt?

Yes, but you will have to explain how the personal debt will be settled, for example from local sources or from transfers from abroad. However, if you owe the South African Revenue Service (SARS) money, they will not issue a tax clearance certificate.

Does immigration check your credit?
