His father, Stephen Mark “Steve” Dasovich, is an American merchant mariner, from Staten Island, New York City. His mother, Charry Maniago Lising, is Filipino.

Wil’s paternal grandfather was Stephen John “Steve” Dasovich (the son of Frane Dasović, later Frank Dasovich, and of Nellie Karpan). Wil’s grandfather Steve was born in Keewatin, Minnesota. Frank was a Croatian emigrant, from Švica, Ličko-Senjska, and was the son of Stipan Dasović and Kata Grljević. Nellie was the daughter of Croatian emigrants, Marko Krpan (later Mark “Mike” Karpan) and Kata Šerić (later Catherine Sherick), both of Gospić, Lika-Senj.

Wil’s paternal grandmother is Sheila C. Tooker (the daughter of Lewis Owen Tooker and Catherine Mary Saunders). Sheila was born in New London, Connecticut. Lewis was the son of Charles Elbert Tooker, who was of English, as well as small amount of Irish, Scottish, and Welsh, descent, and of Mary Ellen Kilcollum, whose own parents, Owen Kilcollum and Ellen C. Gilmartin, were Irish emigrants. Catherine was the daughter of Irish emigrants, Patrick Saunders and Bridget Garvey.

Wil’s maternal grandmother is named Consuelo “Elong” Maniago. Consuelo was born in Mindoro. Wil has described her as a Kapampangan.
