Yandel is a Puerto Rican reggaeton singer and record producer. He is a member of the reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel. He is also known as El Capitán Yandel and La Leyenda.

Yandel is the son of Julio Veguilla Gutiérrez and Luz Eneida Malavé López. Yandel is married to Edneris Espada Figueroa, with whom he has two children.

Yandel’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his fourth great-grandfather, Juan José Veguilla, of Cayey, Puerto Rico.

Yandel’s paternal grandfather was Julio Veguilla Torres (the son of Juan José Veguilla y Rivera and Carmen Torres). Julio was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico. Juan was the son of Victoriano Veguilla Torres and María Claudina Rivera y Rosario. Carmen was the daughter of an unknown father and Josefa Torres [Cruz].

Yandel’s paternal grandmother was Benita Gutiérrez Cruz (the daughter of Ángel María Vega, later Gutiérrez y Vega, and of Isaías Cruz y López). Benita was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico. Ángel was the son of Rodolfo Gutiérrez y Martínez and Isabel Vega. Isaías was the daughter of Cayetano Cruz Mendoza and Cruz López.

Yandel’s maternal grandparents had the surnames Malavé and López.
